Warehouse Roulette, Where art thou?

Hi! Did anyone miss me? Anyone miss Warehouse Roulette? I know, I know, it’s been a while. I should have called, or emailed, or Facebooked, or Twittered or texted or sent the dog over with a note wrapped around a slobbery chew toy, but I’ve been busy and just didn’t get around to it. But here I am and I brought spicy Doritos.
In case you forgot or have no idea what Warehouse Roulette is, it’s my way of having something to write about. I've been bugged by Jenn and others to write posts on the blog for a long time, but I didn't want to have to figure out what to write about while staying somewhat on topic. So the obvious solution was to write about random things in the warehouse. Warehouse Roulette! To make it fun and very random, I put all of the warehouse locations in a box, mixed it up and drew a location.
So what have I been up to if I haven’t been chiseling out blog posts on tablets or crashing the Monday night cloth diaper Twitter party (8p CST, #clothdiapers)? Well, I spent two weeks working this little thing called Jump! Kids Camp our church does for the kids. It’s basically the summer camp we all wish we had growing up: water parks, field games, the best drama written by the uber talented Chelsea Perry and SnoCones out the wazzo. All I had to do was orchestrate the food operation running at warp 7.6 to keep five thousand kids hydrated and happy. Of course I didn’t do it alone, I had an amazing team working their tails off to help make it all happen.
What did the food operation do? Well, I’m glad you asked. Over the two weeks, there were over 5,100 kids and we served:
49,003 SnoCones (we shaved 12,320 pounds of ice)
1,672 pounds of sugar for SnoCone syrup
1,170 pounds of raw popcorn for 25,000 bags of popcorn
3,300 gallons of water & Gatorade
1,110 oranges
684 watermelons
Check out the video recap, it’s pretty amazing:

What else have I been up to? Umm... Well, Jenn was out of town for two weeks, which left me alone with the kids and Cotton Babies, so that kept me tired and busy. Andrew, our oldest kiddo who was the impetus for re-selling baby products which became  Cotton Babies,  turned 10 (!).

And I took this cool picture of a train being chased by a big hairy chicken:

I’ll draw something out of the box next week. In the mean time, enjoy ten hours of Puddi Puddi!

What have you been up to?

  1. Wow! That is SO many kids, and the video made it sound really fun. We're Jewish, so would never send our kids to a Christian camp, but I hope the Jewish camps when they get old enough are just as fun. The kids getting on the bus each day from my neighborhood to go to the Jewish day camp in our city seem pretty happy, so I hope so!

  2. What a cool camp. Thanks for sharing the links. This summer I started gestating a new business (www.ColumbiaEnglishAcademy.com) and gestating a new baby.
